Update in am. My street is very tight and I looked out the window to some asshole in a Ford F800 snow plow driving by my house, followed by a scraping noise when squeezing past my car. It’s a tight city street, there’s no room for a fucking giant dump truck with a plow on it. If my A6 has even a scratch on it, the city will be hearing from angry, belligerent but not intoxicated this time Jkm.

Fuck you NOVA

Fuck you snow plow driver

legally you probably cant do anything because you street parked it. Make sure there are not signs that say no parking on certain sides of the street when there is snow

I was literally in bed. It wasn't that loud of a scrape though. But it was definitely a scrape.

At least the road didn’t attack your car. Yesterday on the way to work, a chunk of asphalt slung up into my inner fender. Thanks South Carolina DOT.

Plows make scraping sounds when the blade hits pavement.

After taking a scary and uneccessarily long drive from Clarendon to Georgetown, the indicocy rating on the roads is off the charts in NoVa rn.

Hoping it was just metal on pavement. If you were hit, you’ll find plenty of company and advice on the Internet. Had a private property maintenance plow truck slam into my (appropriately-parked) car in our office parking lot just over a year ago and it was a nightmare.

What city? Here in Chicago they have signs for this reason saying that if snow is above 2" no parking is allowed, or similar for when there will be street cleaners or the like. I hate to say it, but even if there are no signs, as you said, you could probably fight them for a while on it but would probably get nothing out of it, except a headache and high blood pressure. Hopefully it isn’t what you think it is.

Is that a thing? Not being able to park on a certain side of the road when there is snow?

I’ve heard of not parking on a certain side when it’s road cleaning day or having to park in the direction of travel for any given side of the road, not being allowed to park on the road in certain residential areas, etc...

I know people who have gone through this and gotten their cars repaired on the County’s dime. Fight it all the way to get repaired, plow drivers have to be professional and responsible themselves, you shouldnt have much trouble with it.

i had a simular situation. The town’s sidewalk snow blower (think kei truck type of thing with a giant snow blower) ate my mailbox. I heard, it, it was very early. not only that but the thing some how ended up in my front yard taking out my fence. i think the guy hit it, it was in his way, again, and then got pissed off and threw it in my yard. I didn;t actually see it happen so the town said sorry could have been a car or a plow (which are state operated). if you think (know) it was that plow you should say you witnessed it and document the time.

after I replaced my mailbox and post that spring, days after someone come by and hit it with a car long with my neighbors. My neighbors was first and rotted so it went down easy, but mine was a fresh 4x4 pressure treated post whcih was set into the sidewalk a good foot. It spanned clean off at the pavement. I’m guesing it left a mark. Pissed of and not wanting to have to go out there again, i made a wooden form and filled it with a piece of rebar and concrete. i bet the next guy’s car wont be driving away so easy.

The town I live in bans street parking when there is more than 2" of snowfall in the area. So yes it’s a thing. I live in a dense suburb with homes that have short driveways.

I was hoping to one day take a car over and tour of the Carlisles over there. Now I’ll be too scared to park anywhere for fear of it getting lifted or anchored.
